I’m not in the Winter Spirit at all…

I know it’s Winter and we’re supposed to be all cozy and earthy on social media, but I’m feeling such the opposite of that these days. If you look at my Pinterest page, I’ve been pinning lots and LOTS of color. I’m just now getting into the spirit of warm tones and brights.

After a bit of a hiatus, and an insane 2020, and a hectic election cycle, I’m back in the swing of things with self care. I’ve picked up journaling and planning again and it’s so therapeutic, I don’t know why I let it slip. I recently purchased a Nanami Paper Cafe Note B6 Slim notebook for all of my journaling and planning. This little book is so well-made, and the paper, my favorite Tomoe River paper, is really easy to write on and work with. Since 2020 was such an unprecedented year, most of my planning practice went out the window, which was probably the exact opposite of what was good for me. By starting it up again, I realize that I really missed it. My focus and calm is a lot better when I can plan my weeks and journal my thoughts. Easing back into journaling, I hope to be able to de-stress and create a little more time for self-care in my daily routine.

Finding time for self care is something I’ve been making more of an effort towards. It’s becoming a non-negotiable part of my days, weeks, and months. I find that by simply creating the space for me to take care of what I need to feel my best, I’ve really been able to re-prioritize the other things in my life that are chores or work-related. It’s been a learning process but I’m feeling a lot better these days.

MORE GOOD THINGS:

  • I stumbled across these beautiful screen-printed tiles by Smink Studio on their Instagram (@sminkthings). Oh my gosh, the color palettes and soft textures are everything I want right now (have I mentioned how obsessed I am over bright colors this fall?).

  • Speaking of Instagram, I’ve followed some really dope accounts lately! Check out @ispydiy, @mytennysonstudio, and @nadinestay! They are all sharing their interior and exterior design projects and inspiration in such a fun and chic way.

  • Is it taboo to put a black chai tea bag in your coffee? Because this girl has been loving that lately. #caffeinated

  • One of my favorite brands, Madewell has the Transport Saddle Bag back! I need it in all colors.

  • Recently watched on Netflix:

    • Start-Up - a Korean drama that captivated me from the very beginning. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars

    • Bridgerton- I’m working my way through this one and I’m on the fence so far. 3 out of 5 stars

    • The Queen’s Gambit - This drama was great, then slowed, then got great again. 4 out of 5 stars

    • Blood & Water - a bit cliché, but somehow it kept me til the last episode. 3 out of 5 stars

    • Sweet Home - One part Korean drama + one part zombie/monster action show. 5 out of 5 stars
